Once learnt is an easy language to read. As a result, the average student is able to maintain a simple conversation in Spanish after a few months of study, and a long conversation on everyday topics after just a couple of years.  It is estimated that an English speaker can learn Spanish in a fraction of time it would take to learn an Asian language.
